Craft
Cloisonné is a slow, hand-built technique: fine metal wires are bent and fixed to the body to outline the design, each resulting cell is filled with coloured enamel paste, and the piece is fired and polished so the wires sit flush with the colour. That is why the pattern has visible metal outlines rather than printed edges, and why no two pieces are identical. The six designs draw on standard subjects of Chinese decorative art, including A Thousand Li of Rivers and Mountains, the Song dynasty landscape scroll.
Packaging & Shipping
Ships boxed with padding.
Care
Let the holder cool before moving it. Wipe with a dry or barely damp soft cloth — avoid abrasives and metal polish, both of which will scratch the enamel and the wires. Clear out ash after use so it doesn't cake in the channel.
