Made in Jingdezhen, where the ceramic trade goes back centuries and still supplies most of China's studio pottery. The ornament pairs a gourd-shaped ceramic body with a separately formed pig that turns on a spindle, so the two parts have to be fired and then matched by hand — kiln shrinkage means the fit can't simply be designed in advance. Each design changes the pig rather than the gourd.

Care
Dust with a dry cloth. Wipe the glazed surface with a barely damp cloth if needed, but don't submerge it — water trapped around the spindle will slow the spin. Keep it away from desk edges.
