Craft

These are made by hand using hexiang, the old Chinese method of blending several aromatic ingredients into a single compound rather than using one wood on its own. The paste is pressed into a carved mould and dried, which is what gives the plaque its relief image; because the material is pressed rather than cast, edges and surface texture vary between pieces. The range is organised into three scent families — floral, woody and medicinal — each with its own base note.

Care

Keep it dry and out of direct sunlight; humidity and heat will shorten the scent life. Handle it by the edges — skin oils dull the pressed surface. Store it in the gift box or a sealed pouch when you aren't wearing it, and it will hold its fragrance considerably longer.
